Has this solution worked? We can all form our own opinions about the emblems. As long as aid workers are using the emblems as intended, and they are recognized and left unharmed, it really doesn't matter. Unfortunately, hostilities abound throughout the Middle East and in many third-world countries, and many of the combatants are targeting hospitals, civilians, or ambulances, not respecting any of the symbols no matter which ones are being used (Benthall 162). Maybe it's because they see all but their own as representing their enemies?
Visit http://therulesofwar.org and find out how we all lose when the rules of war are ignored. The rules of war, or international humanitarian law, set out what can and cannot be done during an armed conflict. The #GenevaConventions are at the core of this law. They help preserve our humanity during times of conflict (ICRC).
